• Breakfast In Paharganj; Not The Usual One !!

    It seems that I am running a sort of series on breakfast since two weeks in a row, I am writing about it. But today, its a bit different. The moment one talks about having breakfast in Paharganj, the instant thing which comes to mind is Chhole Bhature from Sitaram or from Amritsari Thali from Kashmir Sweets or Chur Chur Naan from Chawla Naan. No, this post today is not about these. I had some Punjabi Atta Poori with Chhole Aloo, Malpua with Sooji Halwa, Multani Chawal Chhole and Geela Kulcha in Multani Dhanda, Paharganj, Delhi.   • Breakfast Of Punjabi Poori Chhole And Cutting Chai In Moti Nagar, Delhi

    Whenever food enthusiasts in Delhi/ NCR are in a mood to have a rustic desi Breakfast, they would look for places in Chandni Chowk, Darya Ganj, Karol Bagh, Pahar Ganj, Kamla Nagar or similar places. The eateries at these places have evolved over the years. From being a local shop serving the locals in the close vicinity to become a place of interest for food lovers across the city. Then, a few become national tourist places and become known across the country. Yet there are a few, nested in various colonies, whose owners are contended with their local status and yet serve high quality food. So, for people of West Delhi, who would want to have a Breakfast of Punjabi Poori Chhole, this old time eatery nested in this erstwhile refugee colony is a hidden gem. And then, few meters across the street is a Chaiwala, where one can have a Cuppa Cutting Chai to drain down all the stuff.

  • A Quick Fix Chicken In Onion-Pepper Sauce

    A couple weeks ago, I received a container which had some liquidy substance in it. As I was trying to figure out that what is it and who has sent it, my phone rang and it was my friend Chef Sanjay Pawar. “This is French Demi-Glace Sauce which I have prepared it for you. Refrigerate it, since Sunday is two days away. Call me on Saturday and we shall discuss how to make French Onion Pepper Chicken and use this sauce in it”. And he hung up before warning me again not to forget to refrigerate it, better to freeze.
