It’s the last day of 2017 and I was going through the picture gallery of my phone. A few thousands pictures and mostly of food. Then I sifted through my blog posts and realised that quite a few dishes and places to eat have been featured from across the country. So, why not try to select the best of dishes or eating experience I had during the year. It was a difficult task though to select the significant ones (these places / dishes worked best for me and by no means it’s a rating in any sort of hierarchical order). When you are invited for a party at one of the newest restaurant in the town and it turns out to be the most happening hot spot.
When you are told that getting a place on a weekend in that restaurant is next to impossible and you are actually there.
When you are treated to a great evening with great drinks and wonderful food.
When the man himself, the legendary owner of the place spends some time with you.
You feel really special and pampered.
That’s exactly what happened with me last weekend in Mumbai where I was really treated to a great evening. The place is Kode, Freestyle Kitchen and Bar in Lower Parel, a relatively new entrant in the market from the icon of the culinary world, Zorawar Kalra. And I remembered that old Hindi song, “Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan”. (more…)

Over the past couple of weeks, I was recovering from a culinary storm which blew me away some time ago. I am sure we are aware of that chocolate cake known as Death by Chocolate (has dark chocolate, chocolate pudding, chocolate chips, grated chocolate and is served with chocolate sauce). Similarly, we had a wonderful lunch experience where there was Mutton, and Mutton, some more Mutton and some more and then some more…..I titled that experience as “Death By Mutton”, in fact very delightful which one would want to encounter many times over.
