The All American Diner In IHC , A Good Option For Early Morning Breakfast

Delhi, regrettably, does not have that culture where people go out early morning in a Café for their breakfast. At the most, people would throng local or iconic street food joints for a quick morning grub or a takeaway. So, if one makes an internet search, there won’t be many options which open early, say 7 am types, for a hearty meal. The All American Diner in the iconic India Habitat Centre, is one such upmarket Café which opens its doors for the guests by 7.00 am. So, this morning we had a good breakfast of Eggs, Sausages with other sides and Coffee, while enjoying the sun and the great ambience. Read on for the details and to plan your next visit there. You would love it.

For the past couple of years, we make it a point to go out for breakfast every single day during the last week of the year. And we try to go to a place which we haven’t visited so far. Today, we decided to go to this Café and landed there by 830 and am glad that we did make it early. So, The All American Diner in the iconic India Habitat Centre (IHC) was the first on the list and am glad we kicked off from here.

The first great feeling was the drive which was a breeze for no one is on the road so early. Then there was an ample and easy parking inside IHC. A quick temperature check and sanitizing of your hands, and you are let in (entry to the Café is from the Rooms Block side now). We were two and to our surprise, at around 8.30 am the place was full with couples and families enjoying their breakfast. We were ushered out of the restaurant and into its front lawns, surrounded by iconic towers from all sides, with about 20 tables set awaiting the guests. A polite request to the staff and we were allotted a table in the sun. Wow !! What a royal start on a chilly day.

The Breakfast Of Eggs

Out of the choice of about 8 varieties, we ordered Denver Omelette for me and Sausages & Eggs for my partner in crime Sanjay Malhotra. While we were giving our order, the server politely informed that the alcoholic drinks would be only available post 11.00 am. I gave him an amusing look as if asking who would need a alcohol at this hour, and both of us smiled. Even before our order could be served (took about 20 minutes) all the tables were taken by then.

Pro Tip: If you want a table inside, reach by around 745 am and if you want to get a table outside, reach by around 830 am. By the time we left which was around 1030, there were people waiting to be seated.

Denver Omelette

Even before the Omelette arrived, a server placed a plate containing four tiny blobs of Butter. I was about to give him a weird look that how would these tiny droplets of butter suffice but then I let it go. Later I realised that they were good enough for two slices of the toasted Brown Bread.

My breakfast plate consisted a neatly folded, properly done Omelette with two slices of toasted Brown Bread and a Hash Brown patty.

The Omelette had a filling of Chicken Ham, Mushroom, Green Peppers and Cheese. The goldish looks were an invitation enough to dig your Knife and Fork into it. First slicing of the Omelette and the inside was aptly moist with the eggs and the cheese. The very first sight made me glad for I like a moist inside omelette. The aptly seasoned eggs with a flavourful filling which had different textures wrapped in cheese were a delight to savor. The hash brown patty was just ordinary though. I thoroughly enjoyed my satisfying breakfast.

Sausages & Eggs

Sanjay’s plate, true to the name, had two Half Fried Eggs with a perfect yolks which were set and yet runny. Two Chicken Sausages (you have choice of Pork Sausages too), Hash Brown Patty and two slices of toasted Brown Bread were on the side. His silent engagement with the plate and its contents told me that he was also enjoying his breakfast.

The enjoyable and satisfying breakfast was wrapped up with a cup of Cappuccino.

We had a good breakfast in a great ambience, while basking in the sun and our bill was with INR 1500. They have a wide variety of veg and nonveg dishes with a whole range of smoothies and drinks. If you love having your first meal of the day in style and which is good in taste and has to be satisfying, do make a visit to this one.
